Dr. William B. White is a professor of medicine and chief of the Division of Hypertension and Clinical Pharmacology in the Calhoun Cardiology Center at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. Dr. White is also lead physician for the Hypertension and Vascular Diseases faculty practice in the Cardiology Center at the John Dempsey Hospital. He founded and directed the Clinical Trials Unit at the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington, informed by his longstanding research interest in clinical hypertension and pharmacology.
Dr. White is particularly focused on improving ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, clinical trials of antihypertensive drugs, and the impact of noncardiac drugs such as analgesics, hormones, NSAIDs, and neuropsychiatric agents in cardiovascular disorders. He is the author of over 400 original articles and 90 book chapters in the field of cardiovascular medicine and therapeutics and serves as a cardiovascular safety consultant on data safety monitoring boards, cardiovascular endpoint committees, to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
