William E. Kraus is a physician scientist and Professor in the Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine at Duke with specific research interests and experience in cellular signaling processes underlying the plasticity of skeletal muscle gene expression, basic mechanisms of skeletal myocyte development and differentiation, and in physical exercise for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases and myopathies. Dr. Kraus is Director for Clinical Research at the Duke Center for Living, a multidisciplinary treatment and research facility dedicated to the primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease. He also functions as Medical Director of the Duke Cardiac Rehabilitation Program. He graduated from Duke Medical School in 1983 followed by an Internal Medicine Residency and Cardiology Fellowship, all at Duke.
