Martin Abrahamson is Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, and Vice President of Medical Initiatives at Joslin Diabetes Center, Boston, Massachusetts, USA. He also serves as Director of the Division of Continuing Medical Education in the Department of Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. Dr Abrahamson's interests include new treatments for people with diabetes, determining how to improve adherence to lifestyle modification in people with diabetes and in leveraging technology to improve outcomes in people with diabetes. He has co-authored guidelines for the management of patients with diabetes, and more than 50 papers, review articles and chapters related to diabetes. He has been cited regularly in Boston Magazine as one of Boston's top doctors, has delivered numerous invited lectures nationally and internationally on the management of diabetes, and in 2010 received the inaugural American College of Physicians' Samuel Eichold II Memorial Award for contributions to diabetes.
