James Chu, MD, FACE, is a board-certified endocrinologist at the Monterey Endocrine & Diabetes Institute in Monterey, California. He is currently the medical director of the Community Hospital of Monterey Peninsula outpatient diabetes program. Dr. Chu graduated summa cum laude from Harvard College with a bachelor’s degree in biology. He went on to receive his medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine and completed his residency and fellowship at the same institution. Dr. Chu’s fellowship training included extensive coursework and research in cardiology/vascular biology. Previously, Dr. Chu served as an affiliated assistant clinical professor at the University of California in San Francisco. Dr. Chu has been published in multiple peer-reviewed journals including The Journal of the American Medical Association, Annals of Internal Medicine, Diabetes, and Diabetes Care. He has given presentations at various annual endocrinology and diabetes meetings, such as those for the American Diabetes Association, European Association for the Study of Diabetes, Endocrine Society, and the American College of Endocrinology. Dr. Chu has also been a principal investigator in more than a dozen clinical trials examining novel agents to treat diabetes mellitus, blood pressure, and cardiovascular disease.
