At the Utah Lipid Center, Dr. Brinton runs the only lipoprotein apheresis center between Denver and the West Coast. Prior to his current appointment, he held academic positions and directed lipid clinics at several medical colleges. He is Past President of the American Board of Clinical Lipidology and the Pacific Lipid Association. He has received research support from several entities, has published original work in numerous prestigious journals, has received many scientific awards. Dr. Brinton has co-authored lipid guidelines and statements for the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology and the American Heart Association (AHA). He serves as associate editor of the Journal of Clinical Lipidology and assistant editor of the Journal of Obesity. Dr. Brinton was a founding board member of the National Lipid Association and is a fellow of the NLA, the AHA, and the American College of Endocrinology.
