Dr. Amreen M. Dinani is an associate professor of gastroenterology at Duke University Health System. Her clinical and research focus on metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) informs her role as principal investigator of many industry-sponsored and investigator-initiated trials. Specifically, Dr. Dinani aims to identify populations at high risk of MAFLD and develop sustainable lifestyle programs and a multidisciplinary approach to MAFLD treatment. Dr. Dinani developed a program to screen for MAFLD in patients with type 2 diabetes in primary care settings and an algorithm to identify those who need to be referred to specialty care. Dr. Dinani has also shown the feasibility and sustainability of a one-year lifestyle program for the management of MAFLD. She collaborates with Mount Sinai’s primary care, diabetes, emergency medicine and pulmonology departments to provide clinical care for all patients with liver disease.
