Biography: Glenn M. Chertow, MD, MPH
Dr. Chertow is the Norman S. Coplon/Satellite Healthcare Professor of Medicine and Chief, Division of Nephrology at Stanford University School of Medicine. Prior to joining the faculty at Stanford, Dr. Chertow served with distinction on the faculties at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School (1995-98) and at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF; 1998-2007). Over the past 20 years, Dr. Chertow has served leadership roles for many NIDDK- and industry-sponsored clinical trials in nephrology and dialysis, including the Mortality and Morbidity in Hemodialysis Study (HEMO), and the Acute Renal Failure Trials Network (ATN), the Frequent Hemodialysis Network (FHN), and the Systolic Blood Pressure Intervention Trial (SPRINT). Dr. Chertow served on the External Advisory Committee (DSMB) for the Dialysis Access Consortium (DAC) and on DSMBs for several industry-sponsored RCTs. Dr. Chertow was a recipient of the American Kidney Fund’s National Torchbearer Award and several other local and national awards for his contributions to clinical care, education and research in nephrology.
